The highest peak of the whole Low Tatras ridge is 2043 meters high. It dominates the central part of the Low Tatras National Park. Ďumbier is created by huge granite massive with grassy uplands in the South and steep crotches, steepnesses and glacial caldrons in the North, which represent typical alpine environment. From the peak you can experience one of the best panoramatic views in Slovakia.

The uprise starts in the South foothill near Trangoška mountain cottage where it also ends. The tour is at a medium of difficulty with 920 m. superelevation. I recommend it to the clients who have already climbed some hills. The hiking tour is whole day long and it lasts with refreshment breaks approx.9 hours. The mountain path relatively quickly gets out off the forest area and we can experience more and more beautiful views.

The path then drifts towards the dwarf-pine zone and mountain meadows to the mountain cottage of M.R.Štefánik, where we have refreshment break. From the cottage (1724 m.) mostly stony path leads with moderate uprising to the saddleback of Krúpové . From there tracing the crest we can be on the peak of Ďumbier in 45 minutes. On the top we can see Slovak double-cross and experience fabulous circular panoramas. The way back copies the same trace by the cottage, where we can have another rest – besides coffee, tea, non-alcohol beverages, beer , saussages, goulash and soups there is an opportunity to buy some souvenirs. You should have on solid outdoor shoes, waterproof wind-jacket, sufficient clothes.
